How I got the Kronic Urge
by Neil Overwater.
I started tattooing at school.
Me and my mates were making home made tattoo machines at school when I think the teachers would have preferred that we doing something a bit more educational.
I got kicked out of school due to this fact in the fourth form and never looked back (never wanted to). I attended a course in graphic design at Manukau tech that lasted six months. Came back to Whakatane, bought some tattoo gear and started scribbling on my friends (they were good friends, haven't seen them for a while, but anyway...).
It doesn't really hurt that much
Opened my first tattoo studio in Hamilton with the help of a funny little Australian guy called Jim - it was a partnership. That lasted four years and then I came back to Whakatane. Pissed around for many years before I thought I had better pull-finger and started Kronic Urge in March 2004.
The rest, as they say, is history.
